Smart Spending: Tips & Tricks

As some of you may know from twitter, I work nights in a nightclub. I work 14 hours a week which isn't a lot so I recently got a day job in a coffee shop that gives me between 24-35 hours a week, along with the 14 hours I have already. With the extra money coming into my bank account I've been spending a bit too much of it without any thought or care and this is a problem. I'm meant to be saving up for driving lessons, a car, insurance, rent for next year, college etc. and I'm just spending it on clothes and make up that I could manage without. So, to stop myself from overspending I've created a plan to stick to that will ensure I save money and only buy what's necessary. Here are my tips and advice that I use myself, hopefully they'll help you too!

Savings Account
If your bank gives you the option of putting money straight into a savings account every week/month, do it. Set up a savings account and put away money each week or month. This is such an easy way to save money and if you need it badly, you can always just transfer it back into your main bank account, I currently have 20 euro going into my savings each week, it's not a lot but it will all add up when I need it. If you don't want to set up a savings account you could just as easily put it in a safety box or piggy bank but I find that having a savings account ensures that the money will go into it each week and to be honest I don't even miss it.

Credit Union
I don't know if Britain has a Credit Union but they may have something similar. Basically it's just a place you put your money in to save it, they give loans too and have a lot of different saving options to suit you. Your savings are kept track in a small booklet and it's not as easy to take it back out like a bank is so you're less inclined to take out money from the credit union unless you badly need it. I put 5-10 euro away each week and since I never take anything out it all adds up after a year or so of constantly putting money in. They also have a separate Christmas savings plan that you start in January and come December you get all that money back with added interest just in time for Christmas shopping. It's a great way to save money.

Watch what you Spend
When you're in a store looking at all these pretty clothes and shoes etc. it's so easy to just pick something up and buy it, and that's fine for one or two things but if you do that each week or every time you go into a store then you need to just stop and actually look at what you're buying, do you really need to spend so much on clothes/shoes/make up each week? Try to plan your spending instead, go shopping once a month and buy what you need, a new winter coat, some jumpers, new shoes etc. Get what you need but only do it once a month, you're more inclined to just  buy what you need then.

Buy Staple Pieces
I know it's hard to stick to staple pieces when you just want to get the hottest new trends but if you want to get the best out of your money then buying staple pieces will really help. You can still be on trend and stylish, that's what staple pieces are all about. My favourite ones include a good leather jacket, a black blazer, a little black dress, a great pair of jeans, black heeled ankle boots, a white shirt, a black tote bag, a camel coloured coat, and a great pair of ballet flats. These are my staple pieces that just never really go out of style so you can wear them over and over again with updated pieces too.

Save Your Coins
I've gotten into the habit of putting my coins into a money box every time I come home. I'll just empty my purse of all the coins, big and small, and just put them into my money box. I've only started doing this but after a while it will add up. I'm lucky enough to get tips from both of my jobs and any money I get from tips goes straight into my money box, I think it's such a good idea. I know if you live in Dublin you need coins on you if you get the buses but if you don't need to carry coins then just chuck them into a money box or even just put the smaller change into a money box and keep the 1 and 2 euro/pound coins.

These are my simplest ways of saving your money. Obviously they won't work for everyone but hopefully they'll work for most people and help you save up and spend your money smartly.

Birthday Wishlist: October 2015

So it's my 20th birthday on the 17th of October and I know 20 isn't really a big deal unlike 21 but to me it's a big deal. It's just nice to be out of my teenage years and start over because they have been absolutely horrendous. I think I had the worst teenage years ever and although the past 2 years have been better I'm just so excited to be moving away from that area of my life and being happier with life. It sounds kinda stupid but that's just how I think.
Also, I never really do anything or get 'spoilt' or 'treated' for my birthday, I think the last time that happened was when I turned 12 or 13. Not that I have a problem with that, I don't expect people to just go all out and give me gifts, I'm not about that at all, but I do kinda want to have that feeling of being a little bit spoiled since I never really am spoiled. Sooo... I'm treating myself! I decided that no one else is going to (and that's fine) so I may aswell!
I booked a trip to Paris with my best friend for my birthday for 4 nights and I'm super excited because we're going to be going to Disneyland and we're going to be doing so many really simple but amazing things that I just always wanted to do so I'm so excited for that.
Since all my money is going towards my trip to Paris I'm going to be going to Sephora to spoil myself over there and then buying the extra bits I want when I get back home so here's just a small list of things I really want to get myself and if someone in my family offers to get me something here I won't say no sher!
I hope you enjoy reading and I hope you get a little inspiration for maybe what to buy for yourselves!

1.  Beige Wool-Blend Coat from River Island (here)
I just think this looks so pretty and simple! It looks so cosy for winter and so nice, I feel like I'd get loads of wear out of this and could even wear it again next year.

2. Black Mini-Tote Handbag from River Island (here)
I really want a simple black bag, not too big, not too small, just an every day black bag that will match all my outfits and I think this one will do the job quite well. I've wanted it for ages now so I'm definitely going to get this. It's just the perfect size bag for me and I really love the gold details on it.

3. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette
I don't know if you can get these in Ireland yet? I know my local Debenhams sell the Better Than Sex Mascara and the Melted Liquid Lipsticks but I haven't seen this anywhere. If I don't find it in Ireland before I go to Paris I'm definitely picking it up in Sephora. I've read so many good reviews on this palette, watched so many great tutorials and first impressions, and I love love love the colours and, hello? The packaging? How could I not want it?
4. Stila Eyes Are The Window Eye Shadow Palette in 'Soul'
This is something I was in love with for ages but now I'm on the fence with it. Again, with this palette, I love the colours, it has so many great reviews, so many great looks you can create, but I don't know whether I'll use it as much as I'd like to so I don't know if it'd be worth forking out an extra 40 euro for it? But I can only buy it when I'm in Sephora so I'm really unsure and I'll probably only make my mind up when I see it in store and swatch it. I know I can buy it online but I'd rather swatch it myself then buy it if I like it enough.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
I know I'm a bit late to get this but I don't like buying products like this online and paying loads for shipping etc., so I'm going to get it when I'm in Sephora. Everyone has raved about this and after watching a few tutorials for paler skin, I just want it a lot. The middle shade on the bottom looks great on paler skin and then when I have a tan I can use the darker shades.

6. Lace Up Flats from River Island (here)
Again, little late jumping on the bandwagon with these! It seems everyone has a pair and I wanted to pick up a pair in Penneys/Primark during the summer but they've obviously sold out and aren't getting restocked and I've seen other pairs like this that are more expensive so I think these, for 35 euro, are really great. I don't have a nice pair of flats that are dressy and stylish, I usually have to end up wearing my heeled boots if I'm looking dressy or I just end up dressing casual if I want to wear my flats so I really think these would come in handy a lot and be used a a lot too. They're still really on trend and I think they'd look great in Spring too. I need a pair, they're just amazing and super chic and stylish and very me, I have to get them when I come home from Paris (although they'd fit in very well on the chic streets of Paris)
7. Cream Lace High Neck Blouse from River Island (here)
Yep, another River Island item, and it's not even the last one! In my defence, River Island is the only decent shop in my town that I can afford to buy from, so that's always my go-to store with everything, plus I love love love their clothes, shoes, bags, everything! Anyway, this blouse is my favourite thing! It would just work with soo many outfits and I surprisingly don't have a long sleeve white blouse. I also have a thing for lace Victorian style clothes.

8. Fujifilm Instax Camera
These cost like 100 euro so I'll probably be waiting until Christmas to splash out on one but how cute is it?! And I absolutely love polaroid pictures, they're just such great keepsakes and I love taking pictures so I think instant polaroids would be so cool and yeah, I need to get one soon.

9. Chevron Turtle Neck Jumper from River Island (here)
I feel odd that I only have River Island clothes in this list, but again, it's where I buy most of my clothes from since it's like the only good store in town.
I mentioned this jumper before in another wishlist and I'm still really wanting it! I have seen it in store and it's so so soft but they only had really big sizes so I didn't try it on but it's so simple and chic and if I'm feeling lazy this could just be a real staple piece to throw on and pull an outfit together.
Great for the winter too!

10. River Island Watches (pink) (black)
I absolutely love these watches! I've been looking for a good watch for ages now but any ones that I liked were way too expensive so when I saw these I was just so happy, the black one is 45 and the pink one is 29, which is really good because they are lovely watches! I love how the black one is so simple but still looks quite glam and the gold colour is just so nice, I think it would really put a whole look together. The pink one is just so minimal and gorgeous, the rose gold colour is all it needs to stand out and it would be perfect for day time casual or to add a subtle bit of colour to your look!

So that's about everything that I really want to get. I also want to pick up a few Anastasia lip glosses and Mac lipsticks, and a few more make-up bits and pieces but I think I'll just see what I like when I'm in Sephora and then do a little Sephora/Paris haul when I get back. And I'll probably get all the clothes etc when I get back home and I'm not scrimping my money anymore! I also have gotten into the habit of only buying staple pieces and I think most of the stuff here are very good staples.
Hope you guys liked what I have in this list!
Thanks for reading!

LFW: Street Style

After NYFW I was really excited for LFW, along with everyone else who loves fashion. After seeing the street style in New York I got so many outfit ideas and such inspiration for this season and since I live in Ireland I was looking forward to seeing some street style a bit closer to home and I wasn't disappointed. I love the style in London anyway and so I was really excited to get some more inspiration from the very stylish people attending LFW.
Here are a few of my favourite looks, they were hard to choose and I know I'm not brave enough to pull off some of them but I still love them all the same!
I love how minimal yet chic some of these looks are and I'm loving the pops of colour some people pulled off - great to see vibrant colours in wintery weather!
I hope you get some inspiration from these too!

See you next season for more Fashion Week style inspo!

NYFW: Street Style

The Street Style at New York Fashion is always so amazing and interesting. Everyone really incorporates their own style and personality into the current trends and I love that so much. Everyone stands out and makes sure that they're portraying who they are through their clothes and they aren't afraid of any risks. Fashion Week is where you can take the most risks in my opinion, and feel more confident in what you're wearing, and these ladies definitely show that.
There were so many amazing looks but these were just my personal favourite from NYFW.
I hope they give some inspiration to you!

Can I just say how much I love green and black together?!

I love how simple and chic these ones are, so sophisticated! and #monochrome!

Love love love these, especially the one on the left

So there you are, my favourite street style looks from NYFW
Can't wait for next seasons' looks!
